Finance/Grants Specialist, Malawi

Project background
CNFA is currently seeking applications from qualified candidates for an anticipated USAID Feed the Future Malawi Ag Diversification Acitivity. The activity contributes to USAID/Malawi's Feed the Future goal of sustainably reducing poverty and malnutrition in eight districts of Central and Southern Malawi. This activity fosters inclusive and sustainable growth in Malawi's agricultural sector, enhances resilience to climate change, empowers women, and improves the nutritional status of women and children, and at the same time increases the competitiveness of marketable, nutrient-rich value chains through support for agricultural enterprises and increased access to markets and finance. Ag Diversification is a central component of USAID/Malawi's integrated, multi-sector approach to improving Malawians' quality of life.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • MSc degree in economics, finance, business administration or related field, or the equivalent;
  • 7 years' professional experience in developing countries, some of which should be in Africa;
  • Expertise in financial inclusion, including agricultural value chain finance, product design, financial sector strengthening and digital financial services
  • Skills in managing and leveraging grants to achieve improved market system performance and increased benefits to female, male and youth actors;
  • Skills and experience in managing grants and using them as part of a facilitation approach and local systems development strategy;
  • Experience in local capacity building, especially for local government and the private sector
  • Demonstrated knowledge of USAID rules and regulations;
  • Demonstrated, excellent writing and oral presentation skills in English are required.
